An acquaintance suggested egnyte and I thought not again another online Backup solution. Looking closer into what they have to offer I was amazed – it is much more than just another online backup. The Local Cloud on your NAS is optional; it synchronizes data on a local NAS to your Egnyte file server in the cloud. This mirroring, almost like an online RAID, is what is truly unique about this product. Egnyte's basic online file server, which is better than a lot of online storage by offering backup, reporting, and massive, scalable storage capacity. The Local Cloud on NAS is what extends the feature set by offering offline access to data and a way to efficiently work with very large files.
Within the Egnyte interface a user can also map a drive on their desktop PC to the Egnyte server. The user gets access to files even if offline because of the synchronization process. It's a convenient feature, particular for those on the go.
